Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of childcare do you provide?

The Dell is an Ofsted registered provider of childcare and we focus on providing high quality childcare for children aged 3-11 years old.

The Dell's policy is to encourage free play, meaning that the children have a high level of choice in what and how they play. Our staff are primarily there to ensure the safety and well-being of the children, and to help them with any difficulties or issues that they may face.

The KS1 clubs also follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines and we like to reinforce the learning from school but in a play setting.

What hours are you open?

The Dell operates at both Abel Smith & Morgans schools as follows Term time:- 7.30am to 9 am for Breakfast club 3:15pm to 6pm for After School Club Holiday Club (normally held at Morgans School):- 9am to 6pm inclusive (7.30 to 9am at additional charge).

How can I pay?

All payments are now made through our online booking system.

For monthly contracts, the system will generate invoices a month in advance, which must be paid by the last day of the the month.

A reminder email will be sent on the 21st of the month to confirm any outstanding payments for the end of the month.

If a contract is requested part way through the month, an invoice will be generated immidietly for immidiate payment.

Bookings should be paid immediately.

Payments can be made:

  • Through card payment

  • Childcare vouchers

  • Tax free childcare

  • Childcare student grant payment

Is there a waiting list

The Dell has a limited number of spaces available for contracts and bookings, which can be seen on our booking site. For days that we're full, please contact the manager at the relevant site to discuss whether spaces may soon become available, or whether you need to be put on a waiting list. We cannot garuntee spaces until the booking process has been completed and confirmed by our management team. We would advise parents to book places early to avoid disappointment. We have an admissions policy which we use to ensure places are allocated in a fair way and preference is given to parents who serve on the Dell Management Committee for a year or more.

Is it possible for my child to attend occasionally if I need a casual session?

Subject to there being a space available on that day, we do accept casual bookings. Simply create a booking via our booking site and fill in the relevant information. It may not always be possible to make last minute bookings so please don’t expect to leave your child without prior confirmation. Ad hoc bookings should be paid in full at the time of booking, and relevant registration information including emergency contacts and medical information must be completed before a child attends a session. Under no circumstances will a child be able to attend the Dell without this process completed in full. Ad hoc bookings may be requested up to 28 days in advance of your desired date.

Can I claim tax back for the childcare which I pay for?

You may be eligible to claim back some of the costs of childcare through the governments 'Tax-Free Childcare' scheme. To find out more click here.

How can I be sure my children will be safe?

We have a comprehensive Safeguarding Policy in place which sets out the guidelines to ensure children are safe in our care. Our staff undergo disclosure and barring checks (DBS) to ensure suitability to work with children. Coupled with a programme of training to support our staff knowledge of the safeguarding policy, our staff also take part in mandatory training courses such as first aid training. For more information, see our Safeguarding and Child Protection policy.
