Following a consultation with childcare professionals,  the 2019 Inspection framework was amended.  It was identified that the proportionate amount of time spent in after school clubs should be play and recreation based, which would no longer have to meet the same educational criteria as schools or nurseries.

As a result a new grading system for out of school clubs was introduced.  This focuses on whether statutory requirements are "Met" (behaviour, safeguarding, management and leadership and wellbeing).

Whilst we appear to uphold all of our positive attributes identified as “Outstanding” in our previous inspection in Nov 2015, we are pleased to communicate that in our January 2020 inspection we have 'Met' all the statutory requirements to ensure children are safe, happy and well cared for in our club.

Here's a glimpse of some of the things we were praised for:

* * *

~ "Children settle in quickly at the club.  Staff gather a range of useful information from parent and children when before they start.  This helps staff to plan exciting and relevant activities.  Children interact happily with one another and behave well.  They cooperate and work together and confidently share their ideas."

* * *

~ "Children feel safe and secure at The Dell.  They form confident and meaningful relationships with staff and follow instructions well.  The staff use their strong knowledge and experience effectively to support children who need additional help and encouragement.  The strategies they use are highly effective"
